Jeff Fisher says Rams need to be smarter after Todd Gurley jumps into scuffle

Rams coach Jeff Fisher likes the competitiveness of second-year running back Todd Gurley, but asks that he tone it down in practice.

Gurley, who is less than two years removed from a torn ACL that ended his college career, jumped into the middle of a scuffle during the Rams' Wednesday practice at UC Irvine.

“It was his choice. We all need to be smarter than that," Fisher told reporters Wednesday. "But, that was his choice. It shows you what kind of competitor he is."

Fisher has been shown during this season of HBO's "Hard Knocks" TV series saying his team needs to protect Gurley like he's "a friggin' quarterback.
