The Philalelphia Flyers have been hit hard by suspensions already this year and now forward Dale Weise will join those who have already missed games this year. The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Friday that Weise had been suspended three games for an illegal check to the head on Anaheim Ducks defenseman Korbinian Holzer Thursday night.
Weise was not penalized on the play during the game, while Holzer managed to return to action without an injury.
According to the department, Weise delivered an unnecessary check to the head after extending into his hit instead of staying low to make solid body contact.
