Diamondbacks keep spending with signing of reliever Tyler Clippard

The Arizona Diamondbacks' high-spending offseason continued Monday when the team signed right-handed reliever Tyler Clippard to a two-year, $12.25 million contract, according to Fox Sports .

Clippard, who turns 31 this month, went 5-4 with a 2.92 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 64:31 K:BB ratio and 19 saves in 71 innings with the Athletics and Mets last season. He will receive a $4 million signing bonus, $4.1 million salary in 2016, and $4.15 million salary in 2017, Fox Sports reported.

A two-time All-Star, Clippard owns a 2.50 ERA over the past three seasons but saw his walks rise and his strikeouts fall in 2015.
