Former NC State basketball coach Jim Valvano was dying of cancer in 1993 when he was given the 1993 Arthur Ashe Award at the ESPYs, but many wondered if he's be able to make it to the event to accept the award.
Jimmy V did much more than that, delivering one of the most memorable and inspirational speeches ever.
Valvano died of the disease months later, but his legacy lives on through this speech and the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research.
