Yankees 21, Rangers 5: As Football Season Nears, Yanks Put Up 3 Touchdowns

ARLINGTON, Tex. — A night after the third-base coach Joe Espada was excoriated by Mark Teixeira for causing him to be thrown out at the plate, Espada had plenty of opportunities to practice sending runners home.

The Yankees wore out Espada’s left arm the way they wore out Texas Rangers pitchers on Tuesday, riding an 11-run second inning to a 21-5 victory, their fourth win in a row as they hit the halfway point of a 10-game trip.

It was a gratifying evening — and a lengthy one, at 3 hours 38 minutes — for many Yankees.
