u25a0FIFA’s presidential election is scheduled for Friday in Zurich. Sepp Blatter, the longtime president of FIFA, is expected to be re-elected, with strong support from Africa and Asia in the one-country, one-vote format. Mr. Blatter got 186 of 203 votes when re-elected in 2011, running unopposed.

u25a0Mr. Blatter on Friday said, “I am appealing for team spirit and unity so we can move forward together,” while acknowledging that the arrests had “unleashed a true storm.” On Thursday, he largely avoided taking responsibility for the actions of “a tiny minority” arrested in the corruption inquiry.
