GREENBURGH, N.Y. — The primary newsbreak out of Phil Jackson’s farewell address after the worst season of his long pro basketball career was that he did not lose his sense of humor.

Self-deprecation was apparently one of the rare things that did not fail him across a 17-65 season, the worst record in Knicks history.
