New York (AFP) - The NFL and the NFL Players Association players' union on Friday asked a US court to expedite a ruling on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game "Deflate-gate" ban.
Both sides filed a joint letter saying that they agreed a ruling made before the September 4 start of the season would be in the best interest of both parties.
US District Court Judge Richard Berman will hear the case, which began last January when footballs used by Brady and the Patriots' offensive unit were found to be below NFL minimums for air pressure during a playoff game against Indianapolis, making them easier to grip, grab and hold.
