MIAMI — Dillon Gee typically completes his living arrangements for the coming season midway through spring training. But this year, because he was a subject of frequent trade rumors, he waited until about a week or two before opening day.
He waited so long that when he started looking, he grew a bit anxious. When he found an apartment he was comfortable with, around the Upper East Side, and his broker told him that someone else was interested, Gee raced to get his deposit in first. He had not seen the apartment in person. But he finally had a place to live.
