Texas Tech punter Taylor Symmank will go to mini-camp this week with the Minnesota Vikings, taking his first step in trying to make an NFL team as a free agent.
Symmank said he appreciated the forthrightness of Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer.
“I think it’ll be real good,” Symmank said Monday. “The coach that I’ve been talking to has been hands down pretty awesome, honestly. He’s been real genuine, I guess, and honest, which has been big. I’m excited about the opportunity I have.”
Symmank, who averaged 46.0 yard per punt as a senior in 2015, said the Vikings’ mini-camp is Thursday through Sunday.
