For as well as Patrick Mahomes II played Saturday — setting Texas Tech and FBS single-game records — the Red Raiders’ quarterback says he can be better, because he’s still not feeling his best.
Mahomes acknowledged on Monday that, even as he piled up FBS records of 819 yards on 100 plays (88 passes, 12 rushes) in Tech’s 66-59 loss to No. 16 Oklahoma, he’s still feeling the effects of the sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder — nearly month-old injury.
“I felt like the whole game I didn’t have the zip I had at the beginning of the year,” he said, “but it was definitely the best so far, since I had the injury.
