Red Raider football notes: Kingsbury breaks out motivational tool for Kansas week

Kansas has lost 17 of its last 18 games, but Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury clearly has his talking points ready to keep the Red Raiders from overlooking the Jayhawks. The two teams play Thursday night at Jones AT&T Stadium in a Big 12 opener, and Kingsbury on Monday said his offense played its worst game last year at Kansas.

“It was unenergetic. It was bad coaching. Bad playing offensively,” Kingsbury said at his weekly press conference. “The defense played great. Offensively, it was a joke, so we have been working hard to correct that this year.”

Tech did beat KU 30-20, but the lead was only 23-20 before safety Jah’Shawn Johnson returned an interception for a touchdown with four minutes left.
