With five matches being cancelled due to thundershowers in the Houston area, the Texas State women's tennis team closed out the second and third day with five victories at the Rice Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Sophomore Ana Perez advance to the consolation finals after Northwestern State's Iryna Vardenian withdrew from the 3B singles. Perez suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss against Alabama Joanna Saava in the 3B singles flight.
Pippa Carr's match against Laura Cabrera was also cancelled on Sunday.
Alex Jones defeated Caitlyn Mitchell of Sam Houston State by a score of 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday before her match against Diya Menon of UTSA was forced to be cancelled.
