HOUSTON, Texas – The Texas State women's tennis team recorded four victories on the first round of the Rice Invitational on Friday at the George R. Brown Tennis Complex.
Senior Pippa Carr picked up where she left off last week at the Midland Racquet Club Invitational when she defeated Tzu-Hui Chen of Southern Miss in straight sets by a score of 6-4, 6-1 in the opening round of the No. 4A Flight.
Yadira Rubio also came back to defeat Rikeetha Pereira of Southern Miss in three sets after she dropped the first-set tiebreaker by a score of 6-7 (3).
