SAN ANTONIO, Texas – struck out a career-high tying 14 batters and hit home runs in the fifth and seventh innings as Texas State downed UTSA 8-1 on Saturday evening at the UTSA Classic.
Rupp, who struck out 14 of the 29 batters she faced, improved to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 at the UTSA Classic. She now has 692 career strikeouts and is on the verge of becoming only the fourth Bobcat in program history with 700-plus strikeouts.
Young hit a three-run blast in the fifth and a solo shot in the seventh to total her fifth and sixth round-trippers of the season.
