Why the Rangers will likely stick with a four-man rotation this postseason, and what it could look like

ARLINGTON - Sometimes, inside the box is a perfectly good way to think.

The Rangers aren’t going to get cute with themselves on a Division Series playoff rotation. They aren’t going to give in to temptation. They aren’t going to do whatever is necessary to get the maximum number of starts from Cole Hamels and Yu Darvish in a best-of-five series. They aren’t going to ask guys to do what they have never done before.

Well, probably.

Before Cole Hamels struggled early Wednesday, then made an adjustment later Wednesday in an 8-5 come-from-behind win over Milwaukee, Rangers manager Jeff Banister left no doubts the club would carry four starting pitchers into the Division Series wherever and against whomever it starts a week from Thursday.
