Rangers add contender for rotation spot in Rule 5 draft at winter meetings

The Rangers added another contender for the starting rotation during the Rule 5 draft, though he's more of a Haus-hold name than a household name.

The club selected 26-year-old RHP Mike Hauschild from the Houston organization. Hauschild spent last season at Triple-A Fresno where he was 9-10 with a 3.22 ERA in 139.2 innings. Significantly, he has a low career walk rate (2.4 per nine innings) in the minors and has allowed less than 0.5 homers per nine innings.

The Rangers did not have a player selected in either the major or minor league phases of the Rule 5 draft.
