Grant: Rangers manager Jeff Banister will soon get opportunity for closure with club that gave him baseball life

ARLINGTON -- There is a moment when you talk to Jeff Banister about managing against the Pittsburgh Pirates, the only professional baseball organization he knew for 29 years, when the words stop and he catches himself in mid-sentence and you think that his voice might just crack with emotion.

He manages to choke it back for the moment, but it's clear that when the Pirates actually show up at Globe Life Park in Arlington, he may not be able to control things as well.

"I'm sure there will be some real mixed emotions for me," Banister said about facing the Pirates as the Rangers' manager this weekend.
