ARLINGTON - Word of the day: Impact.

Carlos Gomez, the newest Ranger, can impact a game. Cole Hamels can impact a series.

The Rangers welcomed the energetic Gomez to their lineup Thursday, eager for a little offensive boost. He provided it, launching the second pitch he saw into the left field seats for a three-run homer that started the Rangers on their way to a 9-0 rout of Cleveland.
