Texas Football Recruiting Roundup: Erick Fowler, Four-Star WR Visits And Taquon Graham's Decision

The college football season is just under a month way, but the Texas Longhorns are still putting plenty of time and effort into recruiting. Texas has turned up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason and it's already paid off with seven commitments. And that doesn't include the players they landed following the Baylor scandal. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Texas football recruiting

Latest On Erick Fowler
The Longhorns flipped Fowler from LSU on National Signing Day this year. However, the DE/OLB has yet to arrive on campus because of academic clearinghouse issues.

"He still has some work to do academically," head Coach Charlie Strong said. "As soon as he gets that done it's got to go through the (NCAA) clearinghouse and get cleared. Then, I think once he gets that done, he'll be coming in."

Fowler was the No. 7 outside linebacker and the No. 74 overall player. He was one of the top recruits Texas landed this year, and the Longhorns want to get him on campus so he can start working.

Four-Star WR Visits
Miles Battle, a four-star wide out in the class of 2018, visited the Longhorns a few weeks ago. In an interview with 247Sports, Battle said he was impressed.

"I thought it felt really nice," Battle said. "I liked the field, and seeing everything while we were getting our gear. It was kind of like a tour. It felt good ... I really like it here. It’s a nice campus and the people around here are really nice. I got some family and some grandparents, plus I’m from Texas."

Battle is listed as the No. 26 wide out and No. 97 overall recruit in the class of 2017. Battle said he expects to hear from Texas again in September, after they check out more of his game film. The Longhorns have not yet offered Battle a contract.

Taquon Graham Delaying Decision?
The four-star defensive end was planning to make his decision in early August, but 247Sports reports Graham will likely delay that. Graham is coming off a visit to Oklahoma, and that's the reason for the delay. Texas remains the favorite and in the lead for Graham, but his OU visit is giving him pause.
