Texas Football Recruiting: Longhorns In Mix For Top Safety, Will Get Visit From Five-Star DE

The season doesn't start for the Texas Longhorns for several months, giving the Longhorns plenty of time to focus on recruiting. Texas has turned up the heat in recruiting during the offseason, and it's already paying dividends. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Texas football recruiting:

Five-Star DE To Visit
Texas will be getting a visit from five-star DE Robert Beal, reports 247 Sports (subscription required). Beal is expected to visit sometime next week. Beal was committed to Notre Dame, but the Georgia recruit decommitted not long after this year's National Signing Day. Beal is the No. 29 overall recruit and the No. 2 weakside DE. Alabama is currently considered the favorite to land Beal.

Longhorns Pushing Hard For Top Safety
The Longhorns want to land five-star safety Jeffrey Okudah. It won't be easy to keep the No. 6 overall player in the state, but Texas is giving it a shot.

"Coach [Clay] Jennings, Coach [Vance] Bedford and Coach [Charlie] Strong have all talked to me," Okudah told 247Sports. "They’re been telling me that they really want me to get down there. They want me to stay in-state and help them get back to where they used to be."

Okudah is set to cut his list down to six schools on July 11th, and the Longhorns hope they'll make the cut. Okudah last visited the Longhorns for their junior day in February. Eric Cuffee, a four-star DB who signed this year, is talking with Okudah and trying to convince him to come to Texas. Okudah will make his decision in time for him to enroll early.

Four-Star ATH Loves Texas
Jordan Moore is a four-star ATH and the No. 79 overall recruit for the class of 2018. And he's enjoyed visiting Texas twice in the past two weeks.

"It’s like home down here," Moore told 247Sports. "I like coming down."

Moore's mother is a Texas alumna and it's not a surprise that the Longhorns are his No. 1 school. Texas has already offered him as a DB, although he could play corner as well. Moore will visit the Longhorns again in July.
