Texas to finalize Sterlin Gilbert, Matt Mattox’s contract

The University of Texas System Board of Regents is set to approve Texas offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert and offensive line coach/run game coordinator Matt Mattox's contract at February's board meeting.

The board will vote on a potential three-year, $850,000 contract for Gilbert and a three-year, $550,000 deal for Mattox, according to the Board of Regents' agenda.

Both contracts come with incentives. Gilbert and Mattox could each receive $30,000 for reach a New Year's Six bowl, $40,000 for reach the College Football Playoffs, $140,000 for reaching the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Gilbert and Mattox were hired in December after the Longhorns didn't renew contracts from former offensive coaches Shawn Watson and Joe Wickline.
