Kacy Clemens Powers Texas Baseball To Win Over UConn

Texas senior first baseman Kacy Clemens powered the Texas Longhorns to a 4-1 victory in Game 1 of their series against UConn Friday afternoon in Austin.

This year’s team is leaning on Clemens’s bat and he came through with a big day at the plate.

With the game still scoreless in the fourth inning, Clemens kept battling UConn starter Tim Cate. Then, Clemens lifted a 3-2 pitch over the right field wall for a two-run home run.

That battle was part of Texas’ strategy to wear down Cate. UConn’s starter threw 13 pitches in the first, 22 in the second, 16 in the third, and more than 20 in the fourth.
