Texas Football Recruiting: Wednesday Rumors Roundup

The Texas Longhorns had a disappointing first season under head coach Charlie Strong, but finished strong and have used that momentum in recruiting. Here’s the latest news from the Longhorns’ recruiting trail:

JOHN BURT DECOMMITS

Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln wide receiver John Burt officially opened up his recruitment late Tuesday night, citing Texas' quarterback questions, the shaky play of starter Tyrone Swoopes, and the open wide receivers coaching position. Texas fired wide receivers coach Les Koenning last week.

Texas is still an option for Burt, but he wants reconsider his options.

TEXAS COMMIT DAVANTE DAVIS SETS TWO MORE OFFICIAL VISITS

Cornerback Davante Davis (Miami, FL) committed to Texas less than a week ago, but he still set up official visits to the Florida Gators and Miami Hurricanes for later this month.

Davis' high school football coach says this move shouldn't be a concern for Texas fans, he "just wants to enjoy the visit process".
