Texas Football Recruiting Roundup: Can The Longhorns Flip A 4-Star From Texas Tech?

There's been no shortage of Texas recruiting rumors over the past few days...let's cut through the chaff and break down all the latest:

Carlos Strickland

Strickland is a four-star WR currently committed to Texas Tech. From Skyline High in Dallas, Strickland is ranked as the #17 WR in the Class of 2015...and there are rumblings his commitment to the Red Raiders might be wavering.

While the Longhorns are a distinct possibility, we've been told Strickland is just as likely to flip to California - the Bears have recruited him heavily for some time, and the hype around Cal QB Jared Goff is really starting to build. There are plenty of scouts out there very confident he'll de-commit from Tech...but few confident he'll end up with the Longhorns. Stay tuned.

Chris Warren

A four-star running back from Rockwall, TX, Warren will wait until national signing day to announce his decision...but at this stage, we'd be absolutely shocked if he doesn't end up a Longhorn. The #7 RB in the 2015 class would be a major pickup for Charlie Strong & co., and at this point, it sounds like the 'Horns are a virtual lock to land his signature. Last-second changes of heart are always a worry, but it sounds like Warren - a very smart kid - has been impressed by Charlie Strong's momentum, attitude, and approach.

Kai Locksley

The four-star dual-threat QB from Baltimore is committed to Florida State, but he put the Longhorns faithful on red alert when he recently scheduled an official visit to Austin, set for January 23. Locksley would be a huge pickup for a team still looking for answers at the QB position, and it sounds like his commitment to the Seminoles is far from concrete. This is definitely one to keep an eye on as we inch closer to national signing day on February 4.
