Texas’ Gavin Hall shot a 5-under-par 65 and followed that with a 71 to finish Monday’s rounds in the lead at 4 under par at the Big 12 Golf Championships at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.
The second-ranked Longhorns lead the team standings at 7 over par and are 16 shots ahead of second-place Iowa State.
Texas freshman Scottie Scheffler shot a 2-over-par 72 in the opening round and closed with a 67 to place second at 1 under.
Hall’s 65 was the low round Monday, and Scheffler’s 67 was the second-best round. Only three other players in the 45-man field carded rounds in the 60s.
