Two defensive players — defensive backs Charles Oliver and Larry Pryor — already made the first portion of SportsDay's top breakout candidates for Texas A&M.
Coming in at No. 3 is the list's first offensive player, Oregon transfer Kirk Merritt. He can immediately contribute to a youthful receiving corps that said goodbye to three starters and multiple backups after 2016.
No. 3 breakout player: Kirk Merritt, redshirt sophomore WR.
This might come as a surprise to many, as no one appears to be raving about Merritt much. He's stuck to a low profile since playing just five games for the Ducks in 2015.
