Simona Halep recorded a confident 6-2 6-3 victory over Timea Bacsinszky at the Mutua Madrid Open, in the only all-seeded match-up in the tournament's third round.
So many seeded players lost in the first two rounds of the event, but sixth-seeded Halep is yet to lose more than three games in a set. In today's encounter with tenth-seeded Bacsinszky, Halep was in charge throughout the match, even though Bacsinszky did manage to break her serve once in each set, to keep the match competitive.
Halep started with a 3-1 lead, and Bacsinszky's break in the fifth game turned out to be her last resistance in the set as the Romanian raced to 6-2.
