Round 1 Wrap Up

Well round 1 came and went, and Round 2 began with a bang!

So far my picks are intact! I had Robin Soderling going out early (retired before first match), Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova are looking dominant (My winners), My Dark Horses are still in (Juan Martin del Potro, Sabine Lisicki), the only one going against the fabric is Vera Zvonareva.

Early Trouble: Rafael Nadal showed signs of problems in his first round victory. Gael Monfils lost in round 2 today in a tough five setter against Juan Carlos Ferrero.

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic rolled today. Federer beat Dudi Sela 6-3 6-2 6-2 and Djokovic beat Carlos Berlocq 6-0 6-0 6-2.

Old Americans Finally Getting It Right: American hopefuls (8)Mardy Fish and (21)Andy Roddick keep on rolling, although Andy Roddick had a bit tougher time with Michael Russell, losing a set. Venus Williams retired before her first round match, citing an Auto-immune disease. Serena Williams has only lost 3 games in 4 sets, a very dominant performance.
