Tennessee Football: 3 2016 QB Recruiting Targets To Get To Know

The Tennessee Volunteers signed an impressive trio of quarterback prospects during the 2015 recruiting cycle, bring four-stars Jauan Jennings, Quinten Dormady, and Sheriron Jones into the fold in Knoxville.

However, recruiting is never done when it comes to quarterbacks, and Tennessee will have their eyes on plenty of blue-chip Plan Bs and Cs as they put together their Class of 2016. We're here to spotlight some of the best, as we present Tennessee Football: 3 2016 QB Recruiting Targets To Get To Know.

Austin Kendall (Waxhaw, NC)

The only commit on this list, Kendall is ranked as the #8 pro-style quarterback and #176 overall prospect in the Class of 2016 by 247Sports. Kendall pledged to the Vols back in August, and has remained on the Vols' ledger in spite of offers pouring in from schools like Virginia, Clemson, and Boston College. Although Kendall was "a bit bummed" by former offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian's departure to the NFL, he still remains "pretty firm" to Tennessee at this juncture. The Vols will continue to put their resources into assuring Kendall of his place within their future plans, in hopes of solidifying his pledge even more over the coming months.

Tylin Oden (Columbia, TN)

Right on the line between a three and four-star, Oden received his first scholarship offer from Tennessee more than two months ago. He has picked up offers from Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Louisville since then, along with drawing some early interest from Notre Dame, North Carolina, Mississippi State, and Duke, amongst others. Oden is planning to visit Louisville on February 21 and said Sunday that he’s wants to attend one of Tennessee's upcoming junior days. Keep your eye on Oden, especially if Austin Kendall begins to waver.

Shea Patterson (Shreveport, LA)

Ranked as the #3 pro-style QB and #18 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, the Calvary Baptist Academy five-star already has 26 offers in - including one from the Vols. While Ole Miss, LSU, and USC are currently the favorites going away for the coveted signal caller, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones' top-shelf recruiting staff can never be counted out. Patterson has thrown for 5,083 yards over has past two prep seasons, posting 72 touchdowns against just seven interceptions while also rushing for six scores. He'd be a major get for the Vols if they can vault up his interest list, but consider this a longer shot for the time being.
