3 Reasons Why Tennessee Is GUARANTEED To Beat Northwestern In The Outback Bowl

We don't necessarily condone gambling (where it's not legal, at least), but you can't go wrong with this next bowl pick. Here's 3 Reasons Why Tennessee Is GUARANTEED To Beat Northwesrtern In The Peach Bowl.

3. Pedigree

Northwestern has won just one bowl game in 67 years. Tennessee has won 24 over that span. Past success/failure doesn't necessarily predict future results, but there's a reason why the Wildcats have come up short over and over for almost seven decades -- they just don't have the talent or recruiting clout of a Tennessee. The Vols' natural athletic advantage will pay major dividends.

2. On A Roll

The Vols have won five straight and six of seven overall. Five of those six wins came against SEC competition, as Tennessee posted its first winning conference record since 2007. This team has been tempered by the SEC fire, giving them plenty of momentum and experience to draw from heading into the Outback Bowl. Northwestern? They benefited from not having to play Ohio State or Michigan State, and from a down Big Ten on the whole.

1. The Run

What was the unifying factor in Northwestern's two blowout losses to Michigan and Iowa this year? Well, Northwestern is basically unable to compete with high-level running games that constantly test the Wildcats front seven. With Jalen Hurd and Josh Dobbs on the run, the Wildcats defense will simply be outclassed on the ground.
