PHILADELPHIA - On Wednesday, September 6, former Temple men's basketball coach John Chaney will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2017 John Wanamaker Athletic Awards ceremony and luncheon at the Crystal Tea Room in the Wanamaker Building. He will be joined by former Temple women's basketball coach Dawn Staley, who will be receive this year's Wanamaker Athletic Award for leading her current team, South Carolina, to the 2017 NCAA Championship.
One of two Naismith Hall of Fame Temple men's basketball coaches, Chaney led the Owls to 516 wins, 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and five trips to the Elite Eight in his 24 years at the helm (1982-83 thru 2005-06).
