PHILADELPHIA - The PwC SMU Athletic Forum released today the preseason candidates for the 2017 Doak Walker Award. Temple's junior running back, Ryquell Armstead is among the 61 players on the list. The Forum annually presents the award to the nation's top college running back.
Armstead broke on the scene in 2016 amassing 919 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, while sharing the backfield load with Jahad Thomas – who is now a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Armstead and Thomas were the only pair of running backs to rush for 900+ yards and 13+ touchdowns for the same school in 2016.
