NEW YORK - At the age of 17, Jamie Dixon came to TCU, partly because there weren't many basketball scholarships to choose from.
"Nobody else would give me a chance," Dixon said at his opening news conference as TCU coach in March 2016.
The options were much more plentiful when Dixon left Pittsburgh, which is why some were perplexed when he came to TCU -- a program that went winless in Big 12 conference play three years ago.
After TCU defeated Central Florida 68-53 in the National Invitation Tournament semifinals Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, it became increasingly clear why Dixon returned to Fort Worth.
