ST. PETERSBURG -- Alex Cobb (turf toe on right big toe) pitched two innings to Minor League hitters at Tropicana Field on Saturday. The right-hander is expected to come off the 10-day disabled list and rejoin the Rays' rotation next week.
Kevin Cash watched Cobb go through his paces from behind a screen at first base, and the Rays manager liked what he saw.
"Doesn't look like the toe is affecting him," Cash said. "It's amazing sitting where I'm sitting. He does pound that toe, drives it into the ground pretty hard. He said he felt fine with it.
