Rays' Archer, Boxberger going to All-Star Game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chris Archer is headed to his first All-Star Game. That, as Rays manager Kevin Cash said Sunday, is a no-brainer.

What was somewhat of a surprised Monday when the pitchers and non-starters were announced for the July 14 All-Star Game in Cincinnati was the addition of Brad Boxberger.

“Shocked,” Boxberger said of his reaction. “I didn’t really expect it coming, so I’m still trying to let it sink in.”

Archer is one of the top pitchers in the American League this season. He is tied with Chicago’s Chris Sale and Cleveland’s Corey Kluber for the most strikeouts in the AL with 141.
