2015 NFL Draft: Tampa Bay Bucs Select QB Jameis Winston

With the first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Bucs have selected Jameis Winston out of Florida State.

Position: Quarterback

Measurables: 6’4”, 231 lbs, 32” arm length, 9 ⅜” hands

Analysis:

Winston is a proven winner, leading the Seminoles to victory in his first 26 career starts before losing his final game in the 2014 national semifinal. The 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, Winston threw a touchdown pass in every game he played in Tallahassee, finishing his collegiate career with 65 overall touchdown tosses.

His off-the-field issues are well documented, but there’s no doubt just how talented Winston is on the field. Possessing a big arm that can make every NFL throw imaginable, Winston augments that natural throwing ability with instincts beyond his years both in the pocket and on the run. He is also unafraid of making mistakes, possessing an infectious confidence that draws teammates together. The best fit for a pro-style offense out of any QB in this draft, Winston’s got all the on-field tangibles to suggest that he can become a superstar in this league.
