The Syracuse basketball team overachieved last season and proved a lot of doubters wrong on their run to the Final Four in Houston. Malachi Richardson came in as a freshman and grew as a player throughout the season.
In 2015–16, he averaged 13.4 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. After Syracuse ended up making the NCAA Tournament all bets were off.
Some could argue they just happened to be in the right bracket at the right time, but ultimately they overcame adversity. Richardson’s highlights last season stemmed from his clutch performances.
He felt so confident that he showed the NBA what he has that he was willing to forgo his final three years of college eligibility.
