Sunderland staff fear jobs are at risk following meeting with chief Martin Bain after David Moyes took first-team players on trip to New York

Dozens of staff at Sunderland fear their jobs are at risk with redundancies on the horizon as part of a cost-cutting downsizing following a review of the business.

Sportsmail understands that all workers based at the Stadium of Light and at the club's training ground, the Academy of Light, were called in to see chief executive Martin Bain on Tuesday morning.

They were told that redundancies were on the way and that, should they wish to seek voluntary redundancy, Sunderland would not object.
