JUPITER, Fla. • As a boy in the Bay Area, where some of the game’s brawniest bashers roamed during baseball’s most-musclebound era, Stephen Piscotty had a good idea what it meant to be a cleanup hitter.
He did not, safe to say, envision himself as one.
“I grew up watching Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco and those guys and, yeah, that’s a four-hitter when I was growing up,” Piscotty said this past week. “I am by no means close to that type of body or that type of power. But I think the game has changed, evolving a little bit.
