Asked to name the reliever he is most excited to see in 2017, Mike Matheny named the newest lefty in his bullpen, Brett Cecil. The Cardinals manager then passed along a bit of news about the reliever Cecil was signed to replace.
"Brett Cecil is a great pickup for our club," Matheny said during his Winter Warm-Up meeting with the media on Monday. "It's one that maybe our fan base doesn't see how valuable this guy could end up being for us. You throw him in the mix with what, to me, is a very strong bullpen already, and that just made us better.
