Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak is doing his best help the once-proud Atlanta Braves franchise regain its luster.
First he traded starting pitcher Jaime Garcia to that struggling team, filling one of its many rotation holes during the offseason. Then he sent Matt Adams their way as an injury replacement for first baseman Freddie Freeman, who could be sidelined until early August with a broken wrist.
The total return for those two trades: Pitchers Chris Ellis and John Gant, currently toiling in Memphis, and infield prospects Luke Dykstra and Juan Yepez, who are playing for Class A level teams.
