Fowler's homer gives Cardinals 3-1 lead after three

Dexter Fowler broke out of an early-season slump with seven hits in a three-game series against Toronto. He continued to give the Cardinals' offense a jolt Friday night by hitting a two-run home run in the third inning as they took a 3-1 lead at Busch Stadium.

Fowler's homer was his fourth and his second in two games. He was 7-for-14 against Toronto, raising his average from .169 to .224.

He struck out to start the game Friday but jumped on a pitch from Tim Adleman in the third after a Cincinnati error opened the door for the Cardinals.
