JUPITER, Fla. • Dexter Fowler, the Cardinals’ $82.5 million off-season acquisition, will be the first hitter of the exhibition season Saturday when he leads off the game against the Miami Marlins.
Fowler will be in center field. Other regulars to be in the lineup are Matt Carpenter at first base, Yadier Molina catching and Stephen Piscotty playing right field.
Jedd Gyorko, who led the club with 30 homers last year, will be at third base, and Matt Adams will serve as the designated hitter. Even National League teams can use the DH for about the first half of the exhibition schedule.
