SAN FRANCISCO • To fill Trevor Rosenthal's place in the bullpen while he's back in St. Louis for the birth of he and his wife's second child, the Cardinals recalled rookie flamethrower Sam Tuivailala from Class AAA Memphis on Friday afternoon.
To fill Rosenthal's role, it will take a committee.
Kevin Siegrist is the most likely candidate to get save opportunities should they come the Cardinals' way this weekend against the Giants. Tuivailala has been serving as closer in Memphis, and the Cardinals have also utilized Seth Maness in the closer role at times this season.
