Yadier Molina and Jedd Gyorko combined for a timely pick-off in the sixth inning, and Gyorko followed with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning as the Cardinals continued to build their lead over Cincinnati to 6-1 at Busch Stadium.
Devin Mesoraco battled to earn a walk to load the bases with two outs in the sixth. Eugenio Suarez took third but then rounded the base by a couple of steps. Molina rifled a throw to Gyorko, who snuck behind Suarez and applied the tag for the third out.
Gyorko came up with one out in the sixth and hit his fourth home run to right-center field.
