ST. LOUIS • The new billion-dollar deal between the Cardinals and their exclusive broadcast partner Fox Sports Midwest has been structured in such a way that it can evolve with technology for more reasons than the mutually beneficial revenue it could produce.
Change is, after all, on the horizon.
At least, that’s what baseball hopes.
Currently there is no allowance in baseball’s broadcast rights structure of in-market streaming of games. With its At-Bat app and MLB.TV, Major League Baseball and MLB Advanced Media has taken the lead on bringing games to consumers through tablets, phones, game systems, and personal computers.
