Cardinals putting together monster trade package for David Price?

In this Cardinals trade rumors and news update, reports of Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price being taken off the market could very well be greatly exaggerated.

According to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports, "the Rays certainly are tempted to trade Price. They know they could receive a tantalizing package from the St. Louis Cardinals that could include prized 22-year-old outfielder Oscar Taveras, 23-year-old starter Shelby Miller and their first-round pick in the 2015 compensation pool."

The St. Louis Cardinals have been at the front of the pack for some time now when it comes to prospective trade suitors for Price. However, the Rays' recent streak of success over the past couple weeks has created some doubts about whether or not the coveted former Cy Young Award winner is truly on the market.

However, if the Cardinals are ready and willing to part with both Miller and Taveras (and a top draft pick), things could get mighty interesting in advance of Thursday's non-waiver trade deadline.
