Cardinals Trade Rumors: Patience instead of David Price?

In today's Cardinals trade rumors and news update, one ESPN writer believes that the Cardinals should steer away from the blockbuster trade route in the next two weeks - especially in regards to giving up the farm for Tampa Bay Rays ace David Price.

Here's ESPN's David Schoenfield with his thoughts on why the Cardinals should focus on their own lineup instead of chasing Price in a competitive market:

The Cardinals' best chance for improving in the second half isn't in making a big trade but simply getting better production from the guys they already have. Holliday and Molina need to hit better, and Craig and Wong need to hit a lot better. If those guys don't improve, Price isn't going to carry this team to the top. If those guys start hitting, the Cardinals have a good chance of winning the division without trading their young (and inexpensive) players.

Regardless, the Cardinals were unlikely to pull a stunner like ESPN's Jim Bowden suggested; one which would land St. Louis David Price, Desmond Jennings, Ben Zobrist, and Joel Peralta, while sending Carlos Martinez, Oscar Tavaras, Peter Bourjos, and Kolten Wong off to Tampa Bay.

It's not that the Cardinals wouldn't at least consider such a trade. It's more that such a move wouldn't fully address the concerns the team already has, despite picking up game-changers such as Price and Zobrist.
