Butler, 28, appeared in 33 regular season games with the Blues last season, posting nine points (three goals, six assists) and 23 penalty minutes. He also logged nine points (one goal, eight assists) and six penalty minutes in 14 regular season games with the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Chicago Wolves.
Overall, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound defenseman has appeared in seven NHL seasons, including stints with St. Louis, Calgary and Buffalo. He has totaled 84 points (13 goals, 71 assists) and 181 penalty minutes in 382 career regular season games, as well as one assist and 10 penalty minutes in seven career playoff appearances.
